1․ The classic style is always on trend
The sofa Lanett is dressed to impress anyone. The classic style is accentuated by the wheat color upholstery, jacquard pillows, and feet with wooden details.
Jacquard pillows today are widely used in the classic style. A popular technique in the textile industry is brocade design, which forms the basis for jacquard patterns. Back in the 4th century in Byzantium, these intricate patterns were applied on cotton and woolen cloth. In the 6th century, along with the arrival of silk, Byzantine weavers began to weave silk textiles with brocade patterns. They looked so luxurious and expensive that they were accessible only to the high class. Weavers often attached precious stones to the fabric, which made it really valuable. This fabric was loved by almost all the royal families in the Middle Ages. The fame of the silk brocade cloth reached the 15th century. Despite its rich and luxurious appearance, getting handmade patterns was quite a difficult and slow process. Weaving was completed by two servants - the weaver and his assistant. The assistant had to sit at the head of a textile machine and separate the threads to get patterns in the right shades of color. At the end of the day, the weaver and his assistant could barely finish two rows.
Joseph Mari Jacquard, a little boy who grew up in a family of weavers, dreamed of creating a machine that needed no assistance because it was difficult to spend 6-8 hours on the machine by lifting about 13 kg of thread.
In a simple yet witty idea, Jacquard came up with a solution. He offered to use the hard punch cards. In 1801 his idea got approved by Napoleon who called him to Paris and requested him to realize it.
In 1801 the new textile machine was ready. Later on, inspired by this genius idea, Charles Babbage applied the principle of hard punch cards into the computer-making process.
The jacquard assumes a pattern painted in the fabric, consisting of at least 24 threads. Jacquard and brocade patterns are visible only on the outer fabric, and damask patterns are also on the opposite side, that is why damask patterns are often used in the production of drapes, and the rest is used in the production of upholstered furniture.
Fabric with a jacquard design is quite sturdy to use for the long term. It is one of the most luxurious fabrics in the world. We recommend washing it at a +30° temperature. Don’t fold it or try to dry in the immediate rays of sunshine. Iron it on the opposite side where the patterns are not visible.
2․ Comfort is the main prevailing rule
Did you know that before Edward Knabush and Edwin Shoemaker would have invented the contemporary recliner in 1928, the first recliner armchair was used by Napoleon Bonaparte’s grandchild Napoleon III. Today reclining armchairs and sofas are common in many households.
With a Tambo reclining sofa, comfort comes first. With plush cushions and wraparound pillow top arms, the Tambo 2-piece sectional takes comfort to a whole new level. Faux vintage leather requires minimal care, making this relaxation station ideal in homes with children and pets. The reclining feature engages with the pull of a tab, putting pleasure at your fingertips. If you want to install a home cinema, this reclining sofa is a great choice for you.
- It is the all-time favorite sofa
Among the sofas that always stand out for their impressive classic style, Breville is one of them. The upholstery is made from a combination of polyester, polyurethane, and cotton. Despite its linen-like appearance, it has a leather-like feel.
Nailhead trim, which is considered to be one of the essential features of chesterfield design, always adds more aesthetic flair into this sofa collection. The collection is a great match for large cottage houses combined with a loft-style coffee table.
Chesterfield design is one of the most popular in the interior design industry. The first chesterfield sofa appeared on the market in the 1700s under the 4th Earl of Chesterfield, Lord Phillippe Stanhope. Chesterfield-style sofas usually have an equal height of the back and armrests (although slight deviations from the traditional lines are possible). The seats are high in order to allow the elite to sit up straight and prevent wrinkles on their clothes.
One of the distinguishing features of the Chesterfield design is the brass (copper and zinc mix) or nickel nailhead trim. They were frequently applied in the production of upholstered furniture in the XV-XVI centuries. Originally, nailhead trim was used to finish the edges of wood and upholstered furniture. Only in the XVII century, during the reign of Louis XIII in France, it did begin to be used as a design technique for upholstered furniture. Later, in the 1800s, the English furniture designer William Morris and in the 1900s, the American designer-brothers Stickleys began to introduce the nailhead trim into the American furniture design. Today, even wooden furniture can be accentuated by nailhead trim.
