In order to select the right lighting pieces, there are multiple obstacles to consider when dealing with lighting issues. Our team has compiled all the mistakes we have seen in different interiors to help you avoid them in the future.
Lighting aims for 2 purposes: accent and general. Lighting on the floor illuminates the entire area.
Table lamps are used to highlight a reading or sewing corner or send direct lighting toward a special object. This is what we call layering in interior design. Table lamps aren’t the only lighting pieces, consider the chandeliers and floor lamps as well. A lighting piece has to be not only attractive but also functional.
1․ You select the wrong lamp height
One of the most common questions is how high the lamp should be when placing it on the cabinet. The answer, of course, very often depends on the height of the table or cabinet on which it will be placed. The ideal option is that the height of both should not exceed the range of 137 - 162 cm. In order to maintain the integrity of the room, all lamps and other lighting pieces must adhere to this rule. Lamp height in the bedroom should be 60-66 cm, that is, when reading or just sitting on the bed, the lamp should be at your shoulder level.
2. You select the wrong lamp shapes
Almost all of us have managed to make this mistake. We choose a large size lamp for a small room and vice versa. This not only spoils the appearance of the lamp, but the table or sofa placed next to it appears in the wrong position. Take a moment to look at your table or sofa, if it is quite large, then the lamp should be the same. If you have children at home, give preference to lighter lamps.
Remember: As you sit on the sofa, make sure the lower part of the lampshade is at eye level. It will simply obstruct vision if it is higher.
3. You select the wrong lamp color
Lamps with too many colors are not a good idea. The color of the lamp should complement the general interior. It is preferable to follow the rule of 3 colors (1 main and 2 additional colors) in the living room or bedroom.
4. You select 2 identical lamps
It is not necessary to have the same lamps in the room, but this certainly does not mean that any lamps can be matched with each other. Some elements on the lamps must be the same: lampshade, color, pattern, material, etc. It is possible, for example, to match metals. bronze looks ideal with copper, and chrome with nickel. Nickel is also beautiful with certain shades of bronze. Gold and silver are one of the most perfect combinations. Apart from all this, it is necessary to be careful not to mix all these types of metal together.
